Matrine Product overview:

Sophora flavescens Ait, a leguminous plant, is an alkaloid extracted from the dry roots, plants, and fruits of Sophora flavescens Ait using organic solvents such as ethanol. It is generally the total alkaloid of Sophora flavescens, and its main components include various alkaloids such as matrine, sophocarpine, oxysophocarpine, sophocarpine, etc. Among them, matrine and oxymatrine have the highest content. Other sources include Sophora subprostrata (shandougen) and the aboveground parts of Sophora alopecuroides
Matrine Effect:

1. Diuretic effect: Its main functions include clearing heat, diuresis, insecticidal, and dampness removing effects, as well as various antiviral, anti-tumor, and anti allergic effects.

2. Anti pathogen effect: The decoction has an inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis at a high concentration (1:100) in a test tube. Decoction (8%) Water decoction has varying degrees of inhibitory effects on certain common skin fungi in vitro.

Oxymatrine alkaloids have shown strong antiviral activity against HBV in vitro and in animal models, and also have anti HBV effects in humans. There have been many reports on its use in the treatment of chronic viral hepatitis.

The characteristics of matrine as a biopesticide:

Firstly, matrine is a plant-based pesticide with specific and natural characteristics. It only affects specific organisms and can quickly decompose in nature, resulting in carbon dioxide and water as the final products. Secondly, matrine is an endogenous chemical substance in plants that is active against harmful organisms. Its composition is not singular, but rather a combination of multiple groups with similar chemical structures and multiple groups with different chemical structures, complementing each other and working together. Thirdly, matrine, due to the combined action of multiple chemical substances, is less likely to develop resistance to harmful substances and can be used for a long time. Fourthly, the corresponding pests will not be completely poisoned directly, but the control of the population of pest organisms will not seriously affect the production and reproduction of the plant population. This mechanism is very similar to the principles of pest control in the comprehensive control system developed after decades of research on the prominent side effects of chemical pesticide protection. Based on the above four points, it can be concluded that matrine is significantly different from general high toxicity and high residue chemical pesticides, and is very green and environmentally friendly.
