Application Status
Oleanolic acid is a broad spectrum antibacterial drug, which is used in the treatment of bronchitis, pneumonia, acute tonsillitis, periodontitis, bacillary dysentery, acute gastroenteritis and urinary system infection. In addition, it is also used to treat acute hepatitis.

 

Pharmacological effect
1. Reduce liver damage:
Oleanolic acid is a pentacyclic triterpenoid compound, which has obvious protective effect on acute and chronic liver injury caused by carbon tetrachloride in rats. After treatment, enlarged mitochondria and enlarged rough endoplasmic reticulum were restored. The ballooning degeneration, necrosis and inflammatory reaction of hepatocytes in acute and chronic liver injury can be significantly reduced. The accumulation of triglycerides in the liver decreased and the amount of glycogen increased.
2. Decreased serum alanine aminotransferase activity:
Oleanolic acid can significantly reduce enzymes in acute and chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis animals.

4. Promotes liver cell regeneration:
